The Lions are back home for Senior Day against Nebraska in a mid-November “White Out.” How does the staff see this one playing out?

Penn State plays its final home game of the season against Nebraska, needing
a win to try to get back to .500 on the season and strive for bowl eligibility. Coming off a cathartic win over Michigan State, it seems like the Lions have found some successful things to work with – letting the defense be aggressive, and feeding Kaytron Allen. I think Terry Smith is smart enough to stick with what worked against MSU, and does his best to replicate the same game plan against Nebraska.
Penn State grounds and pounds Nebraska in a mid-November night game, and the Lions get their second win in a row.

Penn State has won nine straight Senior Day games at Beaver Stadium. Some of those, including a couple against Rutgers, have been kind of ugly. I think the same holds true for Saturday night. Penn State’s defense has been playing more aggressively in recent weeks and that bothers a young starting quarterback, setting up the Lions to keep their hopes of a .500 regular season alive.

A November night game against Nebraska, just like we all predicted.
Kaytron Allen moves to within spitting distance of the all-time rushing lead, and the Nittany Lions do enough to stop Nebraska’s Emmett Johnson, moving Penn State one win away from potential bowl eligibility.

Kaytron Allen is only 139 yards away from unseating Evan Royster as Penn State’s all-time leading rusher. Call me crazy, but I envision this game being Kaytron’s “2K for LJ” moment, where he runs all over Nebraska to break the record in front of a roaring home crowd, similar to when Larry Johnson trampled all over Michigan State en route to becoming PSU’s first and only 2,000-yard rusher in a season.

Nebraska is a better team than Michigan State, but with Dylan Raiola sidelined with an injury, it will be difficult for them to move the ball against a Penn State defense that has found its game in the last two weeks. Kaytron Allen will have a big night with the motivation to break the PSU rushing record. The Huskers are vulnerable against the run, and Allen breaks off a big run late to set the record and put the game away.

The threat of Lateef running through the Penn State defense is something to give me pause on predicting a second consecutive win for the Nittany Lions. However, the defense has been playing at a much higher level over the last two weeks, and seems to have finally settled into Jim Knowles’ system while making some adjustments in personnel.
I’m also expecting an unusually electric atmosphere for a 4-6 team. The crowd was phenomenal the last time around when the Nittany Lions nearly took down #2 Indiana. Now that they finally had a taste of victory, the fans will show up and be loud for a “bonus” white out under the lights of Beaver Stadium.
Penn State’s ground game helps take control in the second half, as Kaytron Allen becomes the all-time rushing yards leader in an exceptional send-off on Senior Day.
