The Miami Dolphins return to the field this afternoon after their bye week last weekend. In today’s Week 7 contest, Miami visits AFC East rival New York Jets and hopes to leave MetLife Stadium with their first win of the year. The Jets hope to rebound after last week’s loss to the New England Patriots, dropping to a 2-4 record.
The Dolphins, working through a complete franchise rebuild, have shown growth each week and now have two weeks to prepare for the Jets. Will they have identified the issues
that have them 0-5 this year? Can they pull off the upset?
Looking at the latest odds for the Dolphins-Jets game, including several prop bets available on FanDuel Sportsbook, I am bullish on Miami’s chances. I think the bye week was enough to spark something in the team this week as they face the Jets, who are not lighting up the league. Maybe I am trusting this team to respond too much, but I think Miami will play better today than we have seen most of this season.

Dolphins (+3.5) at Jets
The line has moved from 5.5 points to just 3.5 points ahead of kickoff. I have the Dolphins winning this game straight up, so give me the 3.5 points here as well. Maybe I am wearing aqua-colored glasses expecting Miami to show something different today, but I think the bye week, combined with New York’s poor start to the season, sets the Dolphins up for the win.
Prop Bets
Chris Bell receiving yards: 19.5
Over: -113
Under: -113
There is a lot of discussion about wide receiver Caleb Douglas’s expected return to Miami’s lineup. That could be good news for Bell, who just needs 20 receiving yards to hit this prop bet. Bell has not had an explosive start to his career, catching just one pass for 25 yards in Week 1 and four passes for 67 yards in Week 3. After being held without a catch in each of the last two games, Douglas being back on the field could free up Bell for at least a couple of receptions and get him to 20 receiving yards.
Malik Willis passing and rushing yards: 218.5
Over : -113
Under: -113
Willis has thrown for more than 218 passing yards only once this year, in Week 1. He will probably finish today’s game with around 200 yards again, but I expect him to be more active with his legs today. He picked up a season-high 74 yards on eight rushes in Week 5, and I think the team encourages him to run more rather than try to force a pass or take a sack. If Willis reaches 50 rushing yards, I think 218.5 combined yards is well under his actual total.
Chop Robinson to record a sack
Yes: +142
Miami’s pass rush has appeared in only one game this season. They tallied four sacks against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 4, but they have no sacks outside of that contest. That has to change. Head coach Jeff Hafley said this week, “We need to create more pressure, and we talked about it in the bye week. We looked hard at it at the bye week, and we’ll work on that in practice. There’s different ways to do that.”
The Dolphins have to get after opposing quarterbacks, and they need to start now. Chop Robinson is the head of the edge rushers and he needs to spark the group. I will take the yes on recording at least one sack today.
Mason Taylor receptions: 4+
Yes: 210
Jets tight end Mason Taylor is the son of Hall of Famer and former Dolphins edge rusher Jason Taylor. Looking at the available prop bets for the younger Taylor, the receptions line seems like an interesting option. Taylor has had four or more receptions only once this year, last week against the Patriots. The Dolphins have struggled to defend tight ends this year. I think Taylor will have opportunities, and I expect him to tally at least four catches.
