We’re more than half-way through the month of October, and one half of the World Series matchup has been decided.
There will be no three-peat.
The Milwaukee Brewers, getting their revenge for how they bowed out of the playoffs last year, did something that seemed unimaginable at the start of this season. The Brew Crew swept the dreaded Los Angeles Dodgers—with their gargantuan payroll and roster loaded with future Hall of Fame talent—in the National League Championship Series. In doing so, Milwaukee now
has their sights set on winning their first title in franchise history as they prepare for the team’s first World Series appearance in 44 years.
The Brewers now await the crowning of the American League champion to be their opponent in the Fall Classic. The Cleveland Guardians—looking for their first World Series win since 1948—and the Tampa Bay Rays—looking for their first World Series win in franchise history—have the series tied up at two games each and have guaranteed their seasons will continue until at least Monday night.
Meanwhile, the Colorado Rockies look to continue their rebuild after another 100-loss season. The first change of the off-season in pursuit of that goal came last week with the firing of pitching coach Alon Leichman after just one season.
With that being said, here’s what our staff here at Purple Row had to say this week:
