After his hat trick against Utah State, Texas A&M defensive end Cashius Howell was selected as the SEC Defensive Line Player of the Week. Even though Texas A&M wasn’t playing a power conference opponent like a few other SEC teams were, sacking the quarterback on three straight plays against anyone is worthy of praise and POTW honors.
Howell only played 29 snaps against Utah State, but early in the
2nd quarter he made his presence known. Howell sacked Utah State QB Bryson Barnes on three straight plays. That drive on ESPN reads “3 plays, -21 yards”.
In his postgame presser, Howell stated, “The third one, I was like, ‘Man, if they pass it… who knows.’ I was just in a flow state at that point.”
