The Seattle Seahawks bombarded the New Orleans Saints early and never really let up, scoring a thoroughly satisfying 44-13 win in which they were able to rest many starters ahead of Thursday night’s road game against the Arizona Cardinals. There were more Seahawks offensive possessions played with a three-possession lead (9) in this game than in the entirety of the Geno Smith era as starter (7). It feels good to have a wire-to-wire destruction like that, does it not?

I must note that the Saints aren’t exactly the largest fanbase around, and as such it’s not as easy to do game thread Enemy Reactions. I made do with just focusing on the first half. We’ll potentially run into the same problem should they beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Houston Texans in the coming weeks, but that’s about it for the rest of the season. It felt even worse than that.
The Saints, who for the last two weeks often talked about how “close” they are, showed that they aren’t.
The Saints, for the first time in the brief Kellen Moore era, didn’t even look like an NFL team.
This looked more like one of those “money games” in college football when the hapless FCS school travels to face a big-time program from a Power 4 conference and in return receives a large check to help its athletic budget.
Except the Seahawks didn’t write the Saints a check.
All they gave Moore and the Saints was a heavy dose of reality of just how far the Saints have to go to turn things around.
Seattle is a little over 2,500 miles away from New Orleans.
The chances of the Saints being a good team this season are even further away.

After the dregs of Week 1 and losing to the San Francisco 49ers again, things have quickly turned around for the Seahawks. If they can beat the Cardinals to wrap up September with a 3-1 record then that’ll be huge. I doubt Seattle plays a team worse than the Saints, but there is no gauntlet of tough games (on paper) coming up at any point of the schedule. Don’t take that blowout win for granted given Seattle’s recent struggles in these types of games, and we just saw the Green Bay Packers give one up to the Cleveland Browns. A win is a win, but a blowout home win over a bad opponent is something I think has been long overdue for the Seahawks. Now it’s time to string several wins in a row together and that will get the fanbase believing this could be a potentially special season.
