The transfer window of Bayern Munich’s senior team may have been chaotic, with a lot of business left until the very end, but the club’s youth teams did not have to deal with such late chaos. All the work had already been done early in the window, giving the Bavarians the chance to relax and see if any good opportunities for their current players open up.
Two more of said opportunities opened up close to the end of the transfer window for goalkeeper Lukas Schneller and midfielder Luka Parkadze. Parkadze,
whose transfer was announced on Bayern’s official website, had only joined the club in 2o23 as a big talent and was immediately loaned out to Admira Wacker in the Austrian 2. Bundesliga. However, he suffered debilitating injury after injury, somehow collecting four major injuries alone in the 2023/24 season. Ergo, he only made 1 appearance the whole season long. He returned to Bayern in 2024 and was sent right back out on loan to VSG Altglienicke in the German Regionalliga Northeast, the fourth tier of German football. There, he at least got more game time but could not even clear 600 minutes in the Regionalliga.
Clearly, Parkadze needed a fresh start rather than being loaned out and the Georgian got it with another move to a team in the Austrian 2. Bundesliga in Austria Salzburg. Hopefully, the poor guy’s career can truly start now. Good luck, Luka!
On the other hand is Lukas Schneller. The 23-year-old joined Bayern when he was 10 years old and worked his way through every age group in the academy. After doing well for the U-23s, he was loaned out in 2023 to SC Freiburg II in the 3. Liga (yeah, even Freiburg’s U-23s are in that league). Unfortunately, he never got any game time. His next loan in 2024 was to Regionalliga Bayern side 1. FC Schweinfurt, where he became the starting goalkeeper and helped the club win the league and get promoted to the 3. Liga. Rather than retain him, however, Schweinfurt replaced him with former Hannover goalkeeper Toni Stahl.
So, yet again, Schneller found a move in the Regionalliga. This time it is a permanent move, however, as he transfers to recently relegated SV Sandhausen, who have endured a horror start to the season and have just 4 points after 5 games. Hopefully Schneller will finally make the jump to the 3. Liga soon.
