The UEFA Champions League is also back after the international break, and we are now heading into Matchday 5. With teams still fighting for points and places in the next round, every choice matters.
I’ve
put together my squad for this round, picking players who are in form, have good fixtures, and are likely to start.
UCL MD5 Preview
Heading into Matchday 5, I have three free transfers, and I plan to use them to bring in players who can make a real difference. Here’s a closer look at my squad and why I chose each player.
For my goalkeeper, I’ve gone with Nick Pope as captain. He faces Marseille away and has been producing points consistently in both FPL and the Champions League.
He also offers a good chance of clean sheet points along with save points.
In defence, my backline combines solidity with attacking potential.
Jurrien Timber faces Bayern at home and is strong at the back while able to join attacks. Virgil van Dijk plays PSV at home and is a consistent starter with clean sheet potential.
In midfield, I’ve chosen players who can create chances and score. Michael Olise faces Arsenal away and I’m hoping he can provide assists or score.
Gordon is injured, and I am hoping he is fit enough to feature during the midweek. Jérémy Doku plays Leverkusen at home and has been performing well for City, so I’m confident he can produce some key moments.
Mikel Merino faces Bayern at home and remains a reliable player who can get involved in key plays. He has also given many UCL managers who own him valuable points this season.
Up front, my forwards are a strong line, but they all struggled in Matchday 4, each giving just two points, which was disappointing.
Harry Kane faces Arsenal, which is going to be a tough game.
Marcus Rashford plays Chelsea and is not the most reliable, but I’m still keeping him in the squad because he can still deliver points.
Kylian Mbappé has a good chance of scoring against Olympiakos, and I would have loved to give him the captain’s armband, but he plays the next day of Matchday 5.
With these fixtures, I’m really unsure who to give my captain’s armband to this week.
On the bench, I have David Raya as my substitute goalkeeper, along with Nicolas Otamendi, R. Flamingo, and Vitinha.
They give me cover for rotation, injuries, or any unexpected changes and help keep my squad balanced. Even if they don’t start, it’s good to have players I can rely on if needed.
So this is how my team looks heading into Matchday 5. What do you think about it? Who are you planning to bring in with your free transfers? I’d love to hear your thoughts and plans for the upcoming fixtures.
