The Cincinnati Bengals have the best trio in the NFL: The quarterback and his top two receivers. I don’t think that can even be argued anymore. Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins will rewrite the Bengals (and probably some NFL) records by the time they are done.
However, when asked what was left to accomplish, Higgins had an easy answer:
“Winning championships,” Higgins said following a recent practice. “I feel like we have done everything we need to do, personal accolades-wise. Now, it’s just
winning championships. That’s the main goal.”
There are still a couple of personal accolades that have alluded the trio. Burrow still hasn’t gotten his first MVP (even though he absolutely deserved it in 2024). Chase also hasn’t gotten an Offensive Player of the Year award (even though he also deserved it in 2024 when he won the triple crown for leading the league in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns).
That feels like those awards only come with being a contender. Something they struggled to do in the 2024 season after the defense struggled to gel most of the year.
The Bengals did their best to right that wrong this offseason, investing a ton of capital in that side of the ball. Adding veterans like Dexter Lawrence, Bryan Cook, Boye Mafe, and Jonathan Allen.
That puts a ton of pressure on this offensive unit to remain a top unit. There are no excuses to miss the playoffs, and Burrow is one of those guys who can help lift a team to a deep run if the team can get there.
