Bayern Munich has the chance for a Frauen domestic double, and it will all be settled today in Köln.
The Bavarians have already won the Frauen-Bundesliga decisively; one matchday remains but they have a 16-point lead over VfL Wolfsburg at second in the table. However, that same Wolfsburg is Bayern’s DFB-Pokal Final opponent and will be motivated to make up for their league deficit with a cup win.
While Bayern is the defending champion, last year’s victory was only the team’s second title in the competition.
The She-Wolves, meanwhile, have been synonymous with the Pokal, having the most Pokal wins to their name at 11.
“We want to round off this season with a trophy in our hands,” Bayern ace Linda Dallmann said in match preview comments captured by FCBayern.com. “The Champions League exit hurt us a lot, it was a hard moment for all of us. Wolfsburg are still the face of this competition to some extent because of their past, but we want to keep making our mark more strongly in this cup.
“We’re all incredibly excited to be on the pitch here tomorrow. We want to go out there with joy, courage and passion, and show our best football.”
