The Michigan Wolverines got back on track over the weekend with an impressive 24-7 win over Washington. Not only was it a huge victory for the season, but it also looked great to the recruits who were
watching. Overall, it was a successful weekend. Let’s dive into more details in today’s Recruiting Roundup:
Top targets discuss Washington win
Michigan needed to get a win on Saturday against Washington, and the team got it done. After an ugly performance against USC, the Wolverines looked like a totally different team in the 24-7 victory. Four-star 2027 WR Quentin Burrell saw the game in-person, and he was impressed.
“Good to be back on campus and around the coaches and staff again,” Burrell told On3’s Ethan McDowell ($). “I’ve been to the Big House before when my sister was being recruited, but being on the field and taking in the pregame was a whole different experience. Glad to see UM get the win — it was a great team effort.”
Another top WR in the 2027 class was on campus for the game as well. Five-star Monshun Sales enjoyed his time in Ann Arbor.
“It was really good, got to meet with the staff directly and see how much of a priority I am for them in the class,” he said.
Four-star LB locks in Michigan visit
The Michigan football team will hit the road to play Michigan State next, but then the Wolverines will return to Ann Arbor to play Purdue on November 1st. Four-star 2027 LB Brandon Lockley, who just received an offer from Michigan, will be on campus for the game.
“The main thing I want to see is the game and the stadium,” Lockley told On3’s EJ Holland ($). “But I also want to get around campus. I’ve heard a lot about Michigan, so I’m just excited to see it all.”
Lockley is feeling good after securing his offer, and he received a lot of helpful feedback regarding how he can improve down the road.
“It was good to get the offer,” Lockley added. “I had a talk with (recruiting analyst) Avery Bean, and he gave me very high praise. He said he loved my film. It was a great talk. We talked about how I can develop and things like that. He was a cool guy. He gave me a lot of good details.”
There is a long way to go in Lockley’s recruitment, but it sounds like he is very high on Michigan right now.
“I know a lot about Michigan,” he said. “They bring in great depth every year with their recruiting classes. They produce high talent, especially on the defensive side of the ball and at the linebacker position. They have a great tradition. They are a great program overall.”
2027 DL raves about Michigan game day experience
Three-star 2027 DL Ohimai Ozolua was in Ann Arbor to see the Wolverines take down Washington, and he received an offer on his visit. He was impressed by the environment in the Big House on Saturday.
“The experience was crazy,” Ozolua told The Michigan Insider ($). “There was 110,000+ in the stadium.”
Ozolua has liked what he seen from the Michigan coaching staff, especially when it comes to the bonds that the coaches have with the players.
“The coaching staff is one of the best in the nation. They really spend the time to make a relationship with their players,” he said.
