Despite being short of numbers in both defence and attack as the end of the January transfer window looms, a Liverpool side currently in sixth place and at threat of missing out on Champions League qualification appear set not to make any moves to strengthen their squad.
That doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of rumour mongering chatter out there concerning the club, though, and the latest has TeamTalk speculating that Fulham are highly interested in signing a pair of currently on loan Reds in Kostas
Tsimikas and Harvey Elliott—though both deals would likely take place in the summer.
Tsimikas is currently on loan at Roma and Liverpool had sought to convince the Serie A side to agree to allow his return in order to facilitate Andy Robertson’s move to Tottenham. Roma, though, have been unable to source a suitable replacement and so he is currently set to stay in Italy.
Elliott meanwhile has been frozen out at Aston Villa after an ill-conceived loan deal with the Birmingham club that included a £35M purchase obligation after he played ten games. Villa, having decided they don’t want to spend £35M on him, sent him to the reserves in September.
There’s been plenty of chatter about Elliott returning to the Reds this window, but having played for both Villa and Liverpool this season he would be ineligible to play for another European side. As such, as with Tsimikas if Fulham want him a deal would likely happen in the summer.
