Thursday was Media Day for Duke as Jon Scheyer and staff begin to figure out how to build Duke’s team without Sion James, Tyrese Proctor, Khaman Maluach, Kon Knueppel and most of all, Cooper Flagg.

And here is video from practice with Scheyer mic’d up. A lot of it is what you would expect from Day One and a coach who is defense-first. You hear him call “Slim!” more than once and telling his team that defense has to come first.
Something else that really caught our attention was new assistant coach Evan Bradds or, more specifically, his right leg. We honestly couldn’t tell for sure if it was a brace or a prosthetic at first but it looks like he may have suffered a serious injury. He did injure his right leg back in 2017, tearing his ACL, but presumably that isn’t something permanent.
