Rise and shine, Braves country! A Wednesday split doubleheader is at your service.
Chris Sale is on the mound for the Atlanta Braves to face the New York Mets in today’s second game of the doubleheader in this three-game series.
With a 2.19 ERA, Sale has been a dominant force on the mound that continues to produce, even when the offense hasn’t been. His last outings against the San Diego Padres and Texas Rangers in mid-July showed everything the Braves have been trying to execute. Coming off the All-Star
break, that’s the spark they needed to show the work they’ve put in coming to fruition.
Monday night’s matchup, however, was the opposite of that.
Mets’ Christian Scott is boasting a 3.13 ERA across his 14 games this season, and is expected to provide a steady duel against the Braves’ ace.
The Mets have also been a team that’s been struggling with consistent offense, but Monday’s matchup showed they could get hot unexpectedly and run with it.
It’s disappointing to experience a loss, but even worse when it’s behind a Chris Sale start. Expect a pitcher’s face-off, but uncertainty when it comes to both teams’ offense. Will the Braves bounce back after Monday to finish off this doubleheader, or will they fold under the pressure?
Tune in at 7:10 p.m. to find out.
