We’re back today to get you caught up on the latest from Syracuse’s Olympic Sports as winter sports hit championship season.
Ice Hockey (14-16-4, 10-11-3):
We told you about Emma Gnade’s game-winning goal in the 2nd overtime to send the Orange into the AHA semifinals against Penn State, but here it is again in case you missed it.
Softball (7-5):
Syracuse went 3-1 at the Liberty Softball Classic as they
defeated Toledo twice and split with the host Liberty. Madison Knight was the winning pitcher in two of the games, hitting the game-winning home run in one of the wins over Toledo. In the win over Liberty, Kaimi Tulua hit a 7th inning homer for the win.
The Orange are back in action next weekend at the Terrapin Invitational for games against Fairfield, Maryland, and Providence.
Track and Field:
Syracuse was back at Cornell for a final tune-up before the ACC Indoor Championships in Boston later this week. For the women, Tia Outlaw (60m hurdles) and Gretta Johnson (mile) were event winners while Peyton Rollins (60m hurdles) and Shayla Ford (200m) earned second places.
Isaiah Hayes (60m hurdles) and Asher Danielson (mile) were event winners for the Syracuse men. We’ll have an ACC preview later in the week.
Tennis (4-5, 0-2):
Syracuse opened ACC play on the road where they lost 4-0 to both UNC and Duke.
The Orange will be back on the road next weekend to face Boston College.
