For the first time in his NFL career, Drake Maye has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Month.
The New England Patriots quarterback got the call after October brought a 67.2 completion percentage along with 1,199 yards, 12 touchdowns, two interceptions and a 119.0 passer rating. He added 129 yards and two touchdowns as a rusher.
AFC Defensive Player of the Month went to Denver Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton, while AFC Special Teams
Player of the Month went to Houston Texans kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn.
As head coach Mike Vrabel’s side finished 3-1 through matchups with the Buffalo Bills, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Jets and Chicago Bears, no QB around the league finished ahead of No. 10 in touchdown passes or passer rating before the calendar turned.
Along the way, Maye earned AFC Offensive Player of the Week following the 29-26 AFC East upset at Highmark Stadium. And on the heels of a 45-17 rout at Gillette Stadium one Sunday later, the 24-year-old Patriots captain became the youngest player ever with at least 350 passing yards, four touchdown passes, a 150-or-higher passer rating and a rushing touchdown in a single game.
Arriving with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, Maye now stands as the third Patriots quarterback to earn AFC Offensive Player of the Month honors, joining 10-time winner Tom Brady and one-time winner Drew Bledsoe. The reigning All-Pro and MVP runner-up also stands as just the second North Carolina product to get the call, joining former Tar Heels running back Natrone Means.
Maye began November by completing 16-of-20 throws for 199 yards with two passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown against the Miami Dolphins. As a 13-3 deficit became a 24-19 comeback at Hard Rock Stadium, he had just one incompletion after halftime.
The Green Bay Packers visit Foxborough on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. ET.
