Kentucky Football has landed a big transfer portal prize at the quarterback position.
Former Notre Dame signal-caller Kenny Minchey is set to join the Kentucky Wildcats for the 2026 season, flipping his
commitment from Nebraska to UK in dramatic fashion.
Minchey had briefly pledged to play for the Cornhuskers just a day prior — only to flip to Kentucky after the Wildcats made a late push.
Who is Kenny Minchey?
- A redshirt junior quarterback with two seasons of eligibility remaining.
- Spent the last three years at Notre Dame, competing for the starting job and earning praise as a dual-threat talent.
- Completed 20/26 passes for 196 yards in limited action last season.
- Rated among the top transfer portal QBs nationally by major recruiting outlets.
This commitment gives Kentucky its quarterback one for the Will Stein era, coming after the heavy pursuit of other portal QBs earlier in the cycle and a visit from elite signal-caller Sam Leavitt.
The BBN took to Twitter after the announcement with some fun, some takes, and analysis. Check it out!
First, I loved seeing the new Kentucky assistant GM having some fun with the news…
