The Fresno State Bulldogs will kickoff their 2025 season on Saturday as they visit the
Kansas Jayhawks to help kickoff Week 0.
You can catch the game on television on Fox, with kickoff slated for 6:30 pm eastern,
3:30 pm Fresno time. Paul Loeffler and Pat Hill will be on the radio call across the
Bulldog Sports Network and Worldwide on the Fresno State Bulldogs Sports App.
What To Watch For:
Kansas returns their versatile quarterback in Jalon Daniels to the 2025 squad. The senior came back from an injury
riddled 2023 to lead the Jayhawks to a 5-7 record, but with three straight wins over ranked teams late in November before losing to Baylor. Daniels did throw 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions along with rushing for 447 yards and six touchdowns.
The key in this one will be for the Bulldogs front to keep Daniels in the pocket and force
him to throw. With the defensive backfield being the key unit for Fresno State this
season, the more passes Daniels has to throw, the better the chance for the secondary,
led by Al’Zillion Hamilton, to force turnovers.
On offense, Matt Entz likes to lean towards a run first style of offense. The running back
room is deep with three to four potential ball carriers. If the Bulldogs can play ball
control with their running game, it could set them up for a potential upset.
EJ Warner gets the call at quarterback for the Bulldogs in this game. His experience is
good to have. As his career has gone along, he has gotten more accurate with his
passes. The interceptions are still a stat that is glaring, however, he has not been on a
team with this amount of talented receivers before. It will be interesting to see how the
play action will work for the Bulldogs as the lead with the running game first.
Prediction:
This is a tough game for the Bulldogs to kickoff the season with. Kansas is experienced,
and they played well down the stretch in 2024 with some of these same players,
including Daniels. Most of the experts around the country are picking the Jayhawks to
win by a couple of scores. However, I think this one will be much closer than that. The
Bulldog secondary seems underrated coming into this game, and that means a perfect
opportunity to surprise people. I think it will be up to the offense in this one, I like the
upset here: Bulldogs-28 Kansas-24.
