UConn football freshman Bo Polston announced his medical retirement on Instagram this afternoon. The injury is undisclosed. He joined the team in January as an early enrollee.
Before Jason Candle became Connecticut head coach, he was committed to Toledo. The three-star gunslinger flipped his commitment to UConn in December 2025 and signed in January. During the Huskies’ 2026 spring game in April, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound shot-caller was sidelined, but returned for fall camp.
In his senior year at Decatur
Central HS (IN), Polston completed 87 of 132 (65.9%) passes for 1,059 yards, 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. The Indiana native also rushed for 411 yards and another six TDs.
“After talking with coaches and my family, it is with a heavy heart I have made the decision to medically retire from the game of football,” Polston wrote in his announcement. “[I] want to thank Coach Candle for giving me this opportunity and believing in me as a young man and a football player.”
