At the time of writing this article, the Duke Blue Devils pulling away from Lipscomb after finding themselves in a surprising dogfight in the previous 25 minutes. I bring this up because tonight’s game
between UNC and ETSU could provide an equal amount of chaos if the Heels aren’t careful. The Buccaneers currently have an 8-3 record, but all of their losses have been pretty close with the exception of the game against Dayton. Fouling significantly less would’ve helped them a lot against the Flyers, but as a wise man once said: it be like that sometimes.
Regarding the Tar Heels, Hubert Davis was very animated during SC Upstate game this past weekend, and had a lot to say in the post-game presser about how practice went before that game. None of us are strangers to UNC struggling the first game after final exams, whether we agree with that being a reason or not, but the hope is that this game will go much better. The biggest issues from last weekend’s game were defensive rebounding and defense in general, so Davis is inevitably looking for some significant improvement in both departments.
Ultimately this should be a game that Carolina wins, but again, assuming that the outcome is set in stone would be a huge mistake. The Heels need to respect their opponent, play smart, and play like a team that has way more talent than the Buccaneers do. If they do that, they should be in good shape.
Hopefully a number of you are at the game, but feel free to hang out with us in the comments section if you weren’t able to make it. As always, we will be back after the game with post-game analysis and takes. Until then, Go Heels!
