Bayern Munich are back in winning ways and it feels good to finish the first Champions League matchday at the top of the table alongside Paris Saint-Germain. At first though, the game seemed like it could be another step in the wrong direction but thankfully the boys found a way to get in done, and in fashion at home.
Alphonso Davies is back
The Canadian left-back seems to be on the right foot so far this season. While he has been the target of criticism in recent years, it seems as though Davies might have a redemption
arc in the near future. While there have been statements made about Nathaniel Brown being acquired to be a starter, it seems as though the Canadian might have other plans in mind. A little competition is never a bad thing.
We are seeing a potential football great in Michael Olise
Is it getting repetitive to talk about just how good Olise is? Probably. However, it is time we take this discussion to the next level. While it is usually the right decision to not jump the gun on hyping up young players, it is now reasonable to say that Olise could go down as one of the greatest footballers, of all time. A big statement, yes, but there are simply few plays we have ever seen that are as talented as this guy is.
The Frenchman has a long way to go to cement himself in the future, but if he stays with Bayern Munich he will have all the opportunity to rack up serious titles and awards over the next decade and some change.
Yes, Bayern Munich can score goals again
Bayern Munich were starting to scare fans after going another half of football scoreless. Kompany’s usual high-flying offence seemed to lack the bite but after Jamal Musiala’s goal opened up the match’s account, the floodgates opened and it is clear that Kompany made the proper adjustments after the first half.
Was there also an element of just bad luck causing Bayern to go scoreless? Yes, but you have to give Kompany and the squad their credit as well.
Luis Díaz is human
Lucho has now gone three games without any goal contributions against Bodø/Glimt, Schalke, and VfL Osnabrück. It doesn’t sound great and the eye test doesn’t look good either. The Colombian attacker seems to be having some misfortune at the current moment, but it isn’t cause for concern, yet.
While Díaz isn’t getting any younger, it would be ridiculous to suggest that the Bayern Munich star has ‘fallen off’.
