The Green Bay Packers did not practice on Monday as they go into a short turnaround to play the Atlanta Falcons, while the Falcons had a walkthrough, according to the NFL’s official injury reports. The coaching staff did not talk to the press today, but they will field questions on Tuesday.
The non-participants on Monday’s estimated injury report (participation obviously has to be estimated when there wasn’t a practice) were right tackle Zach Bako-Bewele (knee), left guard Aaron Banks (knee/toe),
defensive lineman Warren Brinson (calf), defensive lineman Anthony Campbell (ankle), offensive lineman Donovan Jennings (hand) and receiver Jayden Reed (neck). This shouldn’t be surprising, considering these players were either not healthy enough to play in Week 2 (Brinson’s case) or dropped out of Week 2’s action.
The cluster of injuries on both lines is a bit of a concern, but the Packers can handle the numbers game with their practice squad, at least for now. It’s assumed that Bako-Bewele and Reed will eventually go on the injured reserve for their injuries. There have been no updates on the status of Banks, Campbell or Jennings, nor timelines for when we’re supposed to expect to see them back.
Players estimated to be limited for a Monday practice, had the Packers had one, are cornerback Brandon Cisse (teeth), linebacker Edgerrin Cooper (shoulder) and defensive lineman Javon Hargrave (knee/concussion). Both Cisse and Cooper were able to finish the game on Sunday, while Hargrave was unable to play in Week 2. Hopefully, this means that Hargrave will pass the concussion protocol before Thursday’s action. On Friday’s practice, the final practice before the team’s trip to New York, Hargrave was a non-participant — so there is progress there.
The full participants in Green Bay, beyond players not listed on the injury report, were receiver Bo Melton (neck) and cornerback Benjamin St-Juste (hamstring). Melton’s injury had not previously been reported or announced by the team, while St-Juste did not play on Sunday. Hopefully that’s a good sign that St-Juste will be able to put on the pads on Thursday. It’s worth mentioning here that quarterback Jordan Love, who said that his throwing hand went numb after a hit to the elbow in the mid-third quarter against the Jets, was not on the Packers’ injury report at all.
The non-participants for the Falcons, the players most at risk of missing the game, were edge defender Samson Ebukam (hamstring) and cornerback A.J. Terrell (groin), who are both preferred starters for the team.
