Arsenal and Manchester City are both monitoring Tino Livramento ahead of a potential summer move, with Newcastle United bracing for growing interest in one of their most valuable assets.
The Sun reported that Arsenal are tracking Livramento and expect the 23-year-old to be “at the centre of a battle” with Manchester City at the end of the season.
The report claims Newcastle would demand at least £60million for the full-back, who is regarded by Eddie Howe as one of the club’s key players.
“An asking
price of more than £60million was touted last year,” The Sun’s Jack Rosser wrote, adding that Livramento’s versatility at both right-back and left-back makes him especially appealing to elite clubs such as Arsenal.
Rosser also noted that Livramento confirmed in December that there had been no contract talks, despite Newcastle viewing a new deal as a priority, which could hint at his preference for an exit from Tyneside sooner rather than later.
Manchester City’s interest, meanwhile, was reported by talkSPORT’s Alex Conrad, who reported that City are “eyeing up a summer swoop” and consider Livramento a serious target. Conrad added that Livramento, despite being under contract until 2028, has “shown no willingness to extend his stay” so far, even though Newcastle are keen to tie him down.
“It is also understood Livramento, who is likely to cost around £60million, has shown no willingness to extend his stay at St James’ Park,” Conrad reported, while noting that any new deal would likely make him one of Newcastle’s top earners.
Livramento’s had a ridiculously quick rise since joining the Magpies from Southampton in 2023, and his defensive versatility and growing international profile has placed him right in the biggest spotlight. Livramento’s role in Newcastle’s Carabao Cup final victory over Liverpool and his ability to operate on either flank, including appearances at left-back for England, only added to his resume and appeal for outsiders.
That said, it’s obvious Newcastle are not actively looking to sell one of their best player—whether that’s in January or next summer and, most likely, in future transfer windows either.
Newcastle sporting director Ross Wilson has made extending Livramento’s contract a priority, and the club see him as central to their long-term plans, so don’t expect a quick sale—nor one at all.
While Arsenal are not expected to be active in January following heavy summer spending, and Manchester City are focused on next season, the reports suggest Livramento’s future could become one of Newcastle’s biggest storylines heading into the summer window, but it’s going to hard to convince NUFC to sell their young lad.
