Though Bayern Munich hosted the Champions League final just last year in 2025, at the time of writing, the club endeavored to do so again in very little time. The Bavarians had aimed to reach the final of the competition, but by the time the 2024/25 season came around, they were merely in the first season of a rebuilding project under Vincent Kompany and fell at the quarterfinal stage to Inter Milan.
The Bavarians and the Allianz Arena are now the confirmed hosts of the 2028 Champions League final
and currently look in a better position to win the competition by 2028 than was the case in 2025. But Bayern’s Bischof is not limiting his goals to just that title. Asked in an interview what his plans for the future are, considering the UCL final in Munich in 2028, Bischof showed full commitment to success with Der Rekordmeister.
“I definitely want to win that,” the former TSG Hoffenheim player stated confidently (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “Winning it at home here in Munich would be something very special. I wouldn’t mind winning the Champions League this year either. Two times in a row – that would be a dream. I’m convinced we’re good enough for that. Anyone who plays for FC Bayern and isn’t ready for titles is in the wrong place. In this club, you want and need to win titles.”
Bayern and Bischof will travel to face Atlético Madrid in their home stadium, the Metropolitano Stadium, in the coming days. It is not only a trip to one of Spain’s biggest teams, but also the home venue for the 2027 Champions League final. If Bayern want a taste of what it would be like to win the competition next May, getting a victory there will do just that.
