It’s been quite a year for Joe Hendry, who represented TNA as its world champion at WrestleMania 41 in a quick match against Randy Orton, and is now officially on the WWE roster.
In a new interview on the No-Contest Wrestling Podcast, Hendry explained why he chose to sign with WWE. He gave that answer during a discussion about finding time for video games, where Joe said he is too busy improving his pro wrestling skills at the WWE Performance Center (PC).
“Right now I am obsessed with getting better
at wrestling, and trying to be the absolute best professional wrestler that I can be. And that is, for me, the primary reason why I chose to come to NXT, was to evolve as a wrestler. ‘Cause I really feel I can take this all the way, and the Performance Center has the tools for me to do that.
I am obsessed with getting better, so I actually find it super hard to switch off from the wrestling business and relax. But if my friends and family are playing games and stuff, then I can kind of go, okay. But it’s tough for me. I do miss the days of being able to play single player games, but now I’m just like, oh I could have used that hour to improve in this way or that way. It’s tough, man, but I think using games as a social thing is a great way to unwind for an hour or two, for me.”
Hendry went on to mention that he is surrounded by world class athletes everyday at the WWE PC, and that also keeps him motivated to sharpen his skills and perform at the highest level. He knows how lucky he is now that he actually gets paid to learn from the best coaches in the business and hone his craft training at the PC.
So there you have it, Cagesiders. Joe Hendry signed with WWE because that’s where the best resources are in place for him to become the best pro wrestler he can be. How far do you think he’ll go in his WWE career?
