Jürgen Klopp finally registered his first win as Germany coach thanks to a well-worked 2-0 win over Serbia in Munich. Goals from debutant Tom Bischof and Florian Wirtz, as well as a clean sheet from fellow debutant Jonas Urbig were enough to get the three points, but Mika Baur made sure to get some of the spotlight too for his milestone as Germany’s 1000th player:
1,000 – Mika Baur is the 1,000th different player to make an international appearance for Germany. This marks the first time since October 9, 2019 (4) that four players are making their debuts for Germany.
Anniversary.
Germany looked energized throughout the entire match and could have scored more goals if it weren’t for a lackluster finishing from the attackers. Serbia did try to get a few goals back, but Urbig and the defense stood firm at the back. Things initially looked bleak for Germany, but hopefully this win is the start of better things to come.
