The 2026 schedule is out. Week 1 betting odds
are live. Analysis, including the need to be “Road Warriors” early, is ongoing. Now, we have to wait a little bit to find out what the Cleveland Browns are actually made of.We know that Todd Monken is the team’s 23rd head coach, has a long history in the coaching field, and his stops have improved offenses almost universally. As everyone knew they needed to, the Browns have also revamped their offensive line and added two highly drafted wide receivers
for the first time in their history.
While the additions of KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston have fans excited about finally having a modern offense, Monken’s history is that of someone who runs the ball more than most in every situation:
A zoomed-in look at Monken’s chart shows that he only reaches around average number of drop-back passes when his offense is around the 30-yard line, in scoring position:
The data was taken over a 20-season timeframe, but Monken’s recent stop with the Baltimore Ravens might skew the data towards running the football. QB Lamar Jackson and RB Derrick Henry gave Monken good reason not to want to or have to throw the ball that much.
Do you think the above data is representative of who Monken is and how the Browns offense will be, or just a product of the players he’s had?
