With how good he’s been for Bayern Munich ever since he blew expectations out of the water after coming from the Vancouver Whitecaps back in 2019, it’s hard to imagine the German Rekordmeister without the Canadian left back. He’s only just returned from a long injury layover that’s plagued him since his cruciate ligament tear in March of 2025 while away with the Canadian national team for the CONCACAF Nations League.
Davies started and scored the third of Bayern’s four goals in their 4-2, Bundesliga
title-clinching victory of VfB Stuttgart and he’s getting closer and closer to 100% fitness at just the right time for Vincent Kompany as Bayern have key matches coming up in both the DFB-Pokal and Champions League. With the latest injury blow to Serge Gnabry, who will now miss the rest of the season for Bayern and likely the World Cup with Germany, Kompany will need all the depth he can get. He’s also had to deal with injuries to his defensive unit pretty much the entire season with Davies, Hiroki Ito, Dayot Upamecano, Konrad Laimer, Tom Bischof, and Josip Stanišić at one time or another.
Davies is worth his weight in gold for Bayern when he is fit and healthy, but new information from Sky Sport journalists Kerry Hau and Florian Plettenberg seems to suggest that the left back is not entirely considered to be unsellable by the club (via @iMiaSanMia).
While Bayern is not actively looking to sell Davies, much like the case for Jamal Musiala, extremely exuberant offers from other clubs would not be immediately turned down — everyone has their price, as they say. As things stand, after his most recent contract extension last year, Davies’ contract at Bayern runs through the summer of 2030 and he has absolutely no plans of leaving the club before then. Additionally, he is very much still in Kompany and the club’s plans moving forward despite how well both Bischof and Stanišić stood in at left back while Davies was recovering from his two separate injuries earlier this season.
Right now, Davies is valuated at 45 million euros per transfermarkt, but his recent injuries have significantly contributed to that decline, as he was worth almost double that in the beginning phases of the 2023/24 season under Thomas Tuchel. Hopefully for him and the club, there is a future well beyond 2030 that will include a lot more silverware along the way and hopefully he’s able to avoid an injury history like the one he’s had to go through these past 12 months.
