What could have been.
The Arizona Cardinals are trading Marvin Harrison Jr. to someone (the Houston Texans right now) and then you are also unaware of what they are getting (a second round pick it sounds like) and all of this will happen after the Cardinals matchup today against the Detroit Lions.
For the Cardinals, that means another of the 2024 draft class no longer on the roster.
In what was supposed to be the crown jewel of Monti’s work as GM, it is now looking like one of the biggest draft class
disasters in recent memory.
The rundown:
1.04 – Marvin Harrison Jr.
1.27 – Darius Robinson – 25 career games 12 starts 3 career sacks 7 tackles for loss
2.43 – Max Melton
3.66 – Trey Benson
3.71 – Isaiah Adams – 19 career starts
3.82 – Tip Reimain – 21 total games played (548 total snaps)
3.90 – Elijah Jones
4.104 – Dadrion Taylor-Demerson – 30 career games played (712 total snaps)
5.138 – Xavier Thomas
5.162 – Christian Jones
6.191 – Tejhaun Palmer
7.226 – Jaden Davis
We can look at 2023 and the miss on not taking Will Anderson Jr., we can look at 2025 and wonder if injuries will be an issue that cause this class to not meet expectations, but the 2024 class was supposed to be the one.
Now, there are five players left, they’ve played a combined 95 games and none have been difference makers. To be fair, none of the guys no longer on the roster were difference makers either.
But this Marvin Harrison Jr. trade, without knowing what they are getting, and waiting a day to make it final, is just basically unheard of. Hope this works out for the Cardinals, and quite frankly hopefully it helps Marv get a fresh start.
But, this also begs the question, why are they letting Monti make deals for players if he is on the hot seat?
