Kentucky basketball fans can breathe a sigh of relief, as head coach Mark Pope won’t be missing the biggest game of the early season.
Just two days after announcing he might have to serve jury duty this
week, Pope shared on social media Sunday that he’s officially off the hook. The news came after Pope called in to check his status.
“Okay, BBN. I’m calling in right now for jury service,” Pope said in a video posted to his social media accounts. “We’re gonna see what happens, say a little prayer.”
The automated message quickly delivered the good news:
“Jurors are not needed on Monday. Please note that we will also be closed on Tuesday, November 11th for the state holiday (Veterans Day). Jurors are not needed until Wednesday, November 12th.”
That meant one thing: Pope’s schedule is wide open for the highly anticipated matchup against Louisville on Tuesday night.
“I’m done! So, I’m out!” Pope exclaimed in the video, laughing. “I love you telephone service! Let’s go beat the Cards!”
The Wildcats are set to face their in-state rivals at the KFC Yum! Center, with both teams coming off dominant wins. Kentucky fans can rest easy knowing their head coach will be exactly where he needs to be, which will be on the sidelines.
