The Texas Longhorns suffered another departure to the NCAA transfer portal on Friday with the announcement that cornerback Caleb Chester is leaving the Forty Acres.
The 6’1, 179-pounder will have four seasons
of eligibility remaining after redshirting in 2025 at Texas.
A Fort Bend Marshall product, Chester committed to the Longhorns during the 2024 summer visit window amidst struggles to land top talent in the secondary. TCU also hosted Chester on an official visit prior to his commitment over offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and others. Chester finished the 2025 recruiting cycle as a consensus three-star prospect ranked as the No. 785 player nationally and the No. 72 cornerback, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Unable to find a role on special teams and buried on the depth chart at cornerback, Chester played six snaps on defense against Sam Houston without recording any statistics.
