Alex Pereira was not pleased with the unfortunate outcome to UFC 321’s main event and has promised to “make the heavyweight division great again” alongside Jon Jones.
On Saturday, UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall headlined UFC 321 in a title fight against two-time challenger, Ciryl Gane. It was supposed to be a clash of the two best heavyweights in the sport right now — unless we’re counting this guy — but it turned into one of the most disappointing UFC outcomes of 2025. That’s because Gane landed
a “knuckle deep” double eye poke that rendered Aspinall unable to continue.
Guess Jones didn’t miss much.
Pereira, who was watching UFC 321 like the rest of us, couldn’t believe what happened to the main event between Aspinall and Gane. The UFC light heavyweight champion was captured on video before taking to social media to promise a heavyweight move opposite Jones.

“Let’s make the heavyweight division great again!” wrote Pereira.
Pereira, who is coming off a spectacular knockout finish over Magomedov Ankalaev at UFC 320 to win his 205-pound title back, already had plans to move up to heavyweight for a superfight with Jones. We’ll have to wait and see if UFC brass bites on another move for “Poatan,“ but Saturday’s main event letdown could be a factor.
