Las Vegas Raiders minority owner Tom Brady has another job besides helping the franchise. He is the prominent color commentator for the NFL on Fox, calling their best games of the week. It caused issues with other owners, and in 2024, they didn’t allow him to meet with football teams during the week.
This is a customary practice for commentators to meet with the team to gain an inside look. Brady was left to press conferences and watching film himself to learn about football teams. On Thursday, it was announced
that Brady will be allowed to meet with teams before games for the new season.
During his recent interview with PFF owner and NBC color commentator Cris Collinsworth, Brady shared his thoughts on meeting with teams.
“I think me asking questions in a production meeting is no different than a media member asking a question in a weekly press conference. They’re going to answer it the same way. So, it’s nice for my crew to have me involved because I think, as a cohesive unit, what we’re trying to do, that’s going to be a real positive.”
Brady does have a point that we get most of the information for the week through the media. The press conferences held during the week provide fans with an inside look at the game plan. However, Brady’s meeting with the teams gives him a more personal look into the inner workings of the organization for which he is calling games.
