After back-to-back defeats on the road against Atletico de Madrid and Como in the competition, our second home fixture is against the Serie A side.
With kick-off at 20:00 GMT, Michael Carrick’s side will look to earn our sixth overall win against the Italian giants.
ROMA’S FORM
The Giallorossi have been high flyers so far in the Serie A this season, with Gian Piero Gasperini’s men currently sitting in third spot.
They have only lost one game all season and that was actually in the Champions League against
Real Madrid, where they lost 4-3 to Real Madrid – a game in which they led for the majority of the contest.
The three-time Scudetto winners’ other outings in the competition came against Slovan Bratislava with a 4-0 win at the Stadio Olimpico, along with a 1-1 draw away at Fenerbahce.
Domestically, Udinese were seen off 5-2 at the weekend, with top scorer Donyell Malen again among the goals.
RECENT MEETINGS
You have to go back to May of 2021, in the Europa League semi-finals. It finished 3-2 to Roma, with Edinson Cavani grabbing both of our goals.
United however, progressed through to the final by winning 8-5 on aggregate.
That was due to a brilliant 6-2 first-leg triumph at Old Trafford. Bruno Fernandes and Cavani both bagged braces but there were no fans there to see it due to Covid restrictions.
TEAM NEWS
There will be an update from both camps on Monday but Kobbie Mainoo returned to action as a substitute against Chelsea.
Amad was withdrawn at Stamford Bridge, looking like he had picked up a knock, but was spotted at training, along with Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu, who will be hoping to prove his fitness.
Lisandro Martinez is available but sits out the Aston Villa game at the weekend due to the one-match ban received for his red card on Saturday.
Paulo Dybala is a doubt for the visitors, who also look set to be without France midfielder Manu Kone. If keeper Mile Svilar is not fit in time, former Red Pierluigi Gollini will continue in goal.
