When the NFL schedules came out back in May, the Week 13 matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and the Seattle Seahawks was looked at as being the “Sam Darnold Revenge Game.” It still might be, although
at this point it might be the sort of revenge that you generally see in a movie produced by Quentin Tarantino.
The odds for this Sunday’s game have been released by our friends at the FanDuel Sportsbook, and the Vikings are a 10.5-point underdog in the early betting. I will say that when I checked the lines last night, the number was at 9.5, but it appears to have already moved a bit on the news that J.J. McCarthy is now in the league’s concussion protocol.
The Vikings have lost their last three games, with their most recent loss being Sunday’s 23-6 debacle at Lambeau Field, where they gained less yardage in the second half than the distance from your living room couch to your refrigerator. They now have a record of 4-7 and are, essentially, out of the running for the postseason for 2025. With McCarthy in the concussion protocol, there’s a chance that they may have to turn to undrafted rookie Max Brosmer to make his first NFL start in the hostile environment of Seattle.
The Seahawks currently occupy the top Wild Card spot in the NFC with an 8-3 record. They had a chance to put themselves into the top spot in the conference a couple of weeks ago, but lost to the team that does occupy that spot, the Los Angeles Rams, 21-19 in a game that saw Sam Darnold throw four interceptions. They bounced back this past weekend, defeating the Tennessee Titans in Nashville by a score of 30-24, and will be looking to keep pace in the NFC West and in the conference.
Regardless of who starts at quarterback for the Vikings, this one has the potential to get ugly if the Vikings don’t figure something out on offense and figure it out quickly. I would actually expect this line to get even more lopsided over the course of the week, but for now, it’s currently got the home team as a 10.5-point favorite in the early betting.
