Sami Zayn defended the WWE championship on tonight’s (Oct. 30) Very Nice, Very Evil SmackDown.
As you might expect from a TV match, there were lots of shenanigans at ringside with Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae cheating on Sami’s behalf, and Lil Yachty trying to counter their efforts. It resulted in a shitty disqualification finish via Gargano pulling the referee out of the ring when Trick seemingly had the championship won.
GM Nick Aldis wasn’t going to let the show end like that. So he ejected
everyone else from ringside and restarted the Zayn vs. Williams title match, this time with a No DQ stipulation.
Trick beat up Sami with a kendo stick and tried to finish him with the Trick Shot flying knee, but Sami somehow kicked out of the pin attempt. Zayn then proved to be the alpha male by surviving long enough to deliver a low blow to Trick and blast him in the head with the WWE championship for the three count. That’s all perfectly legal in a No DQ match.
After Sami won, the commentators stressed this means it will definitely be Zayn vs. Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on Nov. 7. Hey, don’t they know that Penta still has time to cash in the Money in the Bank contract before then?
Let me know in the comments below what you thought of this WWE title match, Cagesiders, and if they worked you into thinking Trick Williams really had a chance to win the top prize in the company.
