I was expecting WWE to do a single segment 0n Friday Night SmackDown this week where the entirety of the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match got together in the ring, climbed some ladders, and cut some promos on each other. That’s not what happened.
What they did instead was actually much better.
WWE was sure to bookend the show with segments promoting the match, opening with the veterans and closing with the young, hungry talent.
The show started with CM Punk, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn doing the
“climb ladders and cut promos” trope. The show ended in absolute chaos with the rest of the field — Bron Breakker, Trick Williams, Je’Von Evans, and Penta — all getting involved in some capacity:
The main storyline thread here is that The Vision has numbers and that means Breakker is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the match itself. Bronson Reed, Austin Theory, Maxxine Dupri, and even an injured Logan Paul are going to make things difficult for the field in New Orleans.
Is Breakker the favorite to win?
Either way, a hell of a way to send us off to the next major PLE.
