The Green Bay Packers are finally about to kick off the 2026 regular season, bringing an end to eight months of waiting since their last game. Indeed, the team’s last game was on January 10th, eight months and three days before they will open up the 2026 season on the road against a divisional opponent.
This year’s week one game comes in Minnesota, as the Vikings play host to the opening contest. The Packers will certainly hope for a better result than the last time the two teams played at U.S. Bank
stadium, which came in 2025’s final regular season game. With a Wild Card spot clinched, the Packers rested almost every remaining starter for that game and it showed — the team put up a net of minus-7 passing yards behind quarterback Clayton Tune, who was outplayed by the duo of J.J. McCarthy and Max Brosmer. Meanwhile, the last week one game between these two teams was back in the 2022 season, an entirely forgettable game (for Packers fans) that saw Minnesota win 23-7 behind a huge game from Justin Jefferson (9 catches, 184 yards, 2 TDs).
