Las Vegas Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak is doing unimaginable things on offense with non-premium talent out wide. Arizona Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur has a pedigreed wide receiver he isn’t using.
Starting at left out
LaFleur, is essentially saying that Marvin Harrison Jr. is just a role player in his offense. He is the third receiver in line and the fourth pass catcher
overall.
Now keep in mind LaFleur inherited this Cardinals roster from a defensive minded coach. Johnathan Gannon failed in his first opportunity as a head coach with an abysmal offense.
LaFleur has no ties to Harrison whatsoever. He didn’t draft him, he doesn’t want to develop him, and he barely wants to give him the ball. Consequently, Harrison is putting bad film of himself on the field because he’s going through the motions.
Which is a character flaw on his part, whether he’s frustrated or not. We have seen the practice drops from a lack of focus, we have seen the half speed routes he’s running. All of suggests internally. Harrison is screaming get me out of here.
Throwing lifelines
He simply has too much talent to be this unwatchable. When locked in and engaged Harrison can and will make plays. As a rookie, Harrison caught 62 passes for 885 yards and eight touchdowns from Kyler Murray in a piss poor offensive scheme.
On the Raiders, Kubiak will undoubtedly scheme up plays to get the ball in his hands in space where he could do great things. Harrison would instantly be the best receiver on the team while still not having to be the primary pass catcher. Brock Bowers expected return to the lineup in week 3 would keep the onus off of him still.
The rest of the Raiders receivers would enjoy proper matchups against other teams second or third defensive backs. Providing them with more winnable situations. Further opening up the playbook Kubiak is already dazzling defenses with.
What would it take?
Ideally, John Spytek would offer anywhere from as high as a third-rounder to as low as a fifth-rounder and possibly Jalen Nailor in return. Since signing with the Raiders in free agency, Nailor has left a lot to be desired.
To take it a step further, New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart’s season-ending injury could help facilitate a trade for Aidan O’Connell. Perhaps Spytek could offload O’Connell, trade for Harrison and still be in a position to either add to his receiver room in the 2027 draft. Giving the 2026 Raiders a legit opportunity with a playoff caliber roster and prepare them for greatness at minimal costs to his precious draft picks.
