The Indianapolis Colts dismantled the Tennessee Titans for the second time this season in Sunday’s 38-14 blowout win to complete another season sweep inside Lucas Oil Stadium.
The Colts starting offense
needed just 23 minutes on the field to steamroll into the end zone five times. In two meetings with the Titans in 2025, the Colts have outscored their AFC South rival 79-34. Indianapolis improved to 7-1 to remain atop the NFL standings.
Colts running back Jonathan Taylor continued his sensational campaign as he scored three total touchdowns and ran for 153 yards on just 12 carries. If Taylor’s name wasn’t etched into the MVP conversation, it’s certainly become a weekly nightmare of a matchup against NFL defenses. Taylor has rushed for a league-high 850 yards and 12 rushing touchdowns, which leads the NFL by 97 rushing yards and four scores.
Taylor became the first player in NFL history to score three touchdowns in three consecutive meetings against the same opponent. In his last three meetings against the Titans, Taylor has scored nine touchdowns and accounted for an astounding 510 scrimmage yards, including 473 rushing yards on 58 carries.
Taylor pushed the lead to 10-0 toward the end of the first frame after consecutive runs capped off their second drive with an 18-yard rushing touchdown.
Colts quarterback Daniel Jones threw three touchdown passes and completed an efficient 21 of 29 passes for 272 passing yards. Jones kept the Titans’ secondary guessing, spreading the ball to seven different receivers. He showcased another sharp performance in front of a home crowd and posted a 136.0 passer rating.
The chemistry between Jones and receiver Michael Pittman set the tone connecting three times on the third drive, starting with a first down pass as he kept his balance near the sideline. Two plays later, Jones fired a pass over the middle and Pittman showcased exceptional concentration after tipping the ball in the air and still coming down with it for a 14-yard grab. After Jones hit rookie tight end Tyler Warren on a masterfully designed screen for 20 yards, Pittman made a ludicrous snag in the end zone to increase the lead to double digits.
Jones recognized the 1-on-1 mismatch with Pittman on the backside and fired a dart to the front left pylon. Titans cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis hopped on to ride the back Pittman, but the veteran receiver used his opponents aggressiveness against him. Pittman pinned the football against his ribs and defender Jalyn Armour-Davis’s arm for a highlight catch at the front pylon for a miraculous 21-yard touchdown.
Pittman finished with a season-high eight receptions for 95 yards — his fourth touchdown in the last five matchups against Tennessee and sixth of the season, tied for third-most in the NFL. Pittman let the pass hit his ribs and used his right bicep to pin the leather against his body and the the arm of Armour-Davis to secure a spectacular snap in the end zone.
Pittman finished with a season-high eight catches for 95 receiving yards and his highlight-reel touchdown was the fourth receiving TD in his last five meetings against the Titans. The sixth-year veteran is tied for third in the entire league with six TD grabs this season.
The Colts took a 17-7 lead into the halftime break, but wasted no time on just one play to blow it open in the second half as Taylor burst away for a season-long 80-yard rushing touchdown to punctuate the rout with a three-score lead. Taylor later added a 19-yard touchdown catch on a touch pass to cap his sixth career game with three touchdowns.
The Colts next possession needed just nine plays to march down. Jones capped off the drive rolling right to find Josh Downs racing across the field for a 10-yard touchdown strike to put the game away midway through the third.
Indianapolis’ front line collected four sacks against the Titans’ rookie quarterback Cam Ward, including a stunning sack by defensive tackle DeForest Buckner that took just two seconds to complete. Colts cornerback Chris Lammons terminated a Titans 14-play drive with an interception in the end zone on fourth-and-goal.
The defense matched the offensive effort with four sacks of Titans rookie quarterback Cam Ward, including a blistering takedown by DeForest Buckner that took just two seconds from snap to the whistle. Cornerback Chris Lammons stamped the defensive effort by terminating a 14-play drive with an interception in the end zone on fourth-and-goal to deny a lengthy Tennessee drive.
The Colts travel to Pittsburgh next Sunday for a divisional leader matchup against the Steelers.
