If former UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili has the right information then UFC officials plan to put a kibosh on Russian fighters competing at the upcoming White House card this June.
Sounds like that Donald Trump travel initiative won’t matter one way or another (for some).
The impending UFC White House card is quickly becoming the hottest ticket in town. Maybe not for fans as most will watch from a nearby park, but almost every fighter on the UFC roster is jumping at the opportunity to compete
on the White House lawn for President Trump’s birthday bash. Some are even asking for retirement fights to close their career out in style.
However, it now appears a good number of UFC athletes will not even have the chance to compete on the historic card.
Earlier this week, Dvalishvili sat down with MMA Pros Pick to discuss his next fight inside of the Octagon. While UFC officials informed “Machine” he’ll get his trilogy fight against current 135-pound king Petr Yan they apparently also told him there’s no chance of it happening at the White House. That’s because Yan is from Russia.
Until we get official word from UFC and see what the final White House lineup looks like, we’ll have to take Merab’s word for it. Check it out below and let us know your thoughts!
“The UFC told me I’m next for the belt. They said there will be a trilogy between me and Yan,” said Dvalishvili.
“They also told me that our fight will not happen at the White House in June because (Yan) is Russian, and that’s impossible.”
