PHILADELPHIA — Sam Hauser is available to play in Tuesday’s Celtics game against the Philadelphia 76ers. The Celtics’ sharpshooter was listed as probable with a right wrist sprain on Monday night, but was upgraded to available after shootaround on Tuesday.
The Celtics held an optional shootaround at Temple University, and Hauser was in attendance. The Celtics guard has struggled of late; he’s made just 3 of his last 20 three-pointers and is down to 36.7% shooting from three, well below his 41.6% clip
from last season.
But he’s had several big-time games so far this season, and has been effective as a defender and on the glass.
76ers rule out Joel Embiid
The update means that the only Celtics player on the injury report is Jayson Tatum, who is expected to be out for most, if not all, of the season as he recovers from a ruptured Achilles tendon. For the 76ers, former MVP Joel Embiid will miss the game with right knee soreness.
Embiid appeared in six games this season, averaging 19.7 points on 46% shooting, but has mostly alternated appearances and DNPs. Embiid appeared in the previous two games between the Celtics and 76ers. Paul George (left knee recovery), Dominick Barlow (right elbow laceration), and Johni Broome (right ankle sprain) are also all out for Philadelphia.
The Celtics will look to improve to 6-6 on the season and 2-1 against Philadelphia.
