Al Ahly sporting director Walid Salah Eddine has confirmed that Hamza Abdelkarim is set to complete a move to Barcelona in the January transfer window.
The two clubs have been in negotiations over a deal for the young star for some time now and it seems an agreement has finally been reached.
Al Ahly Sporting Director Walid Salah El-Din said: “Hamza Abdelkarim is going to Barcelona! I wish him much success so that he continues his career there and establishes himself with Barça and doesn’t return to Egypt.”
Abdelkarim is expected to join on loan for the rest of the season and link up with Juliano Belletti’s Barcelona Atletic side initially.
The deal will include a purchase option set at around €3 million, although with variables it could rise as high as €5m.
Abdelkarim looks to being one of several new recruits at Barcelona Atletic this January, with the club said to also be working on deals for Juwensley Onstein, Patricio Pacifico and Ajay Tavares.
