The Dallas Cowboys seem to be open to the idea of Tyler Smith playing left tackle in 2025. In fact, there is apparently a clause in the contract that he signed last summer that accounts for that hypothetical.
It has been a long time since we debated Tyler Smith’s position, or at least which position made the most sense for him. It harkens back to the days of debating whether Micah Parsons should play defensive end or linebacker. Good times.
Where do you think Tyler Smith should play? I imagine most
will say left tackle as he is very good and it is the most important position in football, but there are potential cons, or at least ramifications, to moving him that experts have outlined. Just look at this conversation between Duke Manyweather and Andrew Whitworth.
To be clear these perspectives aren’t necessarily proof that moving Smith to left tackle is a bad or less preferred idea, it is just context from people who know the deep intricacies of asking him to do it. Heck, asking him to do it again, given that he did during his rookie season.
