The Seattle Seahawks have opted to keep neither of their seventh-round rookie cornerbacks on the initial 53-man roster.
ESPN’s Brady Henderson reported that former Toledo corner Andre Fuller, who was drafted alongside former Arizona standout Michael Dansby, has been waived. Dansby was also waived by the team. If both clear waivers come Monday, then they could return via the practice squad.
Seattle’s cornerback room post-Riq Woolen appears to be constantly fluctuating outside of Josh Jobe, Devon Witherspoon, and Nehemiah Pritchett. The team drafted Julian Neal in the third round, although he missed all of preseason with an injury, while Fuller and Dansby got extensive preseason work. Seattle also signed Terrion Arnold (who likely won’t be around any time soon) and veteran Trevon Diggs, as well as traded for rookie cornerback Avery Smith from the Los Angeles Chargers. We shall see if another veteran corner in Noah Igbinoghene made the roster, or if he ends up getting released (and potentially put on the practice squad).
Unless Deven Eastern is an unexpected inclusion, none of Seattle’s sixth- or seventh-rounders from this year’s draft will have made the 53-man roster. It’s not too much of a surprise given the perceived weakness of this year’s draft as a whole.
