Bayern wants two-year extension with Olise, but it could take time (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Bayern Munich wants to keep Michael Olise out of the clutches of Liverpool, Real Madrid, Manchester City, and others as long as it can. To help prevent that, the club wants to give him a two-year contract extension:
Michael Olise is currently on a contract running until 2029, and Bayern Munich would love to have him sign a new contract until 2031. But this all
takes time. With three years left on Olise’s current terms, Bayern have time on their hands. But, of course, they also heard that Liverpool are interested and Manchester City is watching the player. But they also have the Konrad Laimer contract negotiations to think about, the Harry Kane negotiations… It’s a complicated situation. What if you sign one player until 2031 and then the others say, “Hey, I want a longer contract”? It’s a bit of a dangerous game; the longer you wait, the more it invites other clubs to pick up the phone and call the player. Michael Olise isn’t, at the moment, one of the top earners (picking up around €15m [£13m]. Jamal Musiala and Harry Kane perhaps earn about €10m more. Bayern can always give the right winger more money, but the longer they wait, the more complicated the situation becomes. Bayern don’t want another “Upamecano case”. Nobody wants that!
This seems like a good first step. The club could give him a raise and gain some security. If he continues to develop, Olise really could be the kind of player who commands €200 million in the transfer market. At that point, Bayern Munich might consider the possibilities of a massive influx of cash, but until then, keeping the Frenchman is a top priority.
Mount to leave United? (Football Insider)
Mason Mount could already be looking to leave Manchester United. Aston Villa and Fulham could be among the clubs interested:
Man United’s Mason Mount is attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs including the likes of Aston Villa and Fulham this summer.
The 29-year-old has struggled with fitness issues and has yet to make an impact under Michael Carrick, leading to suggestions he could be set to move on.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Mount has no shortage of interest with clubs keeping a close eye on his situation.
“He’s got a very good reputation and he’s spoken about very highly at Man United. Everybody I speak to says what a wonderful trainer he is, he works very hard and his general demeanor around the club and in the dressing room is good. That’s always good to hear if you’re looking into a player because it’s important to bring people in who have the right attitude and application.
“I’m told Aston Villa have been keen on him before and I’m sure he’s still on their radar, and then you’ve got teams like Fulham who will be looking if he is made available. I can imagine there are a number of Premier League teams who could do with a player like Mount. It’s just about whether he can stay fit for long enough to make a difference, I think that’s what will make or break any move for him, and the money involved as well.”
Gunners could lead Spurs on Goretzka (TEAMtalk)
Arsenal might be leading Tottenham Hotspur and others on Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka:
Arsenal have reportedly ‘received a huge boost’ as they are more likely than Tottenham Hotspur to sign Bayern Munich star Leon Goretzka.
The Gunners made a shock enquiry for Goretkza during this year’s winter transfer window, but there is a greater chance of the deal materialising in the summer as he is in the final few months of his contract.
Arsenal entered the market for a potential midfield signing in the final days of the January window as they looked to fill the void left by injured Mikel Merino, with Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali also mooted as a potential solution.
However, the north London side did not end up making a signing as head coach Mikel Arteta instead stuck with the players already at his disposal, though he could turn back to Goretzka in the summer.
Real earmarks €100 million for Schlotterbeck, Rodri (ESPN)
Real Madrid could be plotting to use €100 million to bring in Manchester City midfielder Rodri and Borussia Dortmund center-back Nico Schlotterbeck:
Real Madrid have earmarked €100 million to spend on bringing in Man City midfielder Rodri and Borussia Dortmund center back Nico Schlotterbeck, says Onda Cero. Rodri, 29, could go for around €60 million of that, while Schlotterbeck is aware of Madrid’s interest and is very keen to move to Spain, as reported by Matteo Moretto. Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt left back Nathaniel Brown is also on Real Madrid’s shortlist, with Barcelona and Manchester United keep an eye on his situation, reports Florian Plettenberg. Brown will be allowed to leave Eintracht in the summer, with the club’s sporting director Markus Krosche demanding a fee of at least €60 million for his transfer.
Both players have contracts that end in 2027…but €100 million does not seem like anywhere near enough to secure both.
City, United vying for Anderson (ESPN)
Manchester City and Manchester United could both be looking to bring in Nottingham Forest midfielder Eliot Anderson:
Manchester City and Manchester United are vying to sign Elliot Anderson this summer, the Daily Mirror reports. According to the outlet, the Nottingham Forest midfielder is a top target for both clubs after establishing himself as a key player in the England national team. Anderson, 23, is valued at around the £75 million mark, although a bidding war could see that rise. Should Forest be relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season, it’s reported that the club will have “no choice” but to let Anderson leave.
Bayern Munich is also (loosely) rumored to have interest in Anderson.
Bayern not interested in Banjaqui (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Contrary to reports, Bayern Munich is not interested in Benfica right-back Daniel Banjaqui:
❌ It is NOT TRUE: Benfica’s Daniel Banjaqui has been identified as an alternative if Bayern can’t sign Givairo Read. I spoke with the club about this rumour. Bayern are aware of Banjaqui, and they think he’s a good player. But no, he’s 17 years old and not an option at the moment. Perhaps he will develop, but for the profile Bayern are looking for, he’s not the right choice at this time.
