With most leagues off this weekend there are just a handful of matches in the EPL and Serie A to take note of so let’s get to it:
Saturday
West Ham United v Fulham – 10a on Peacock: Antonee Robinson has started
three straight matches for Fulham across all competition and the team has won their past two league matches to move into 13th place in the league table. They face a West Ham side this weekend that are in the relegation zone with 13 points through their first 17 matches, they are five points back of Nottingham Forest for safety and have lost their past two matches.
Pisa v Juventus – 2:45p on CBSSN and Paramount+: Weston McKennie and Juventus are in fifth place in Serie A following their 2-1 win over Roma. McKennie went the full 90’ and picked up the assist on his teams second goal, their eventual match winner. It was McKennie’s 200th match with the Serie A giants. This weekend they will face a Pisa side that have just one win through their first sixteen matches though they are still just three points back of safety.
Sunday
AC Milan v Verona – 6:30a on Paramount+: Christian Pulisic started and played 73’ but AC Milan settled for a 2-2 draw with Sassuolo as they slipped into second place, a point back of Inter Milan for the Serie A lead. They now host fourteenth Hellas Verona who are two point from safety.
Sunderland v Leeds United – 9a on USA Network: Brenden Aaronson was back in the starting lineup last weekend as Leeds defeated Crystal Palace 4-1 to give themselves a bit more space in the relegation battle, they are now six points up on West Ham for the final relegation spot. It was Aaronson’s first start in the past five matches for Leeds. The team will travel to Sunderland this weekend to face the promoted side that find themselves in sixth place in the EPL as we near the midpoint of the season.
Crystal Palace v Tottenham Hotspur – 11:30a on USA Network: Chris Richards was stretchered off last weekend but apparently avoided a serious injury though he did need stitches. Palace lost to Leeds 4-1 and fell to eighth place with the defeat. They will host 14th place Spurs this weekend who are coming off back to back losses to Nottingham Forest and Liverpool.
Atalanta v Inter Milan – 2:45p on Paramount+: Yunus Musah received his first start for Atalanta in the Serie A as they held Genoa scoreless and won 1-0. Atalanta moved back into the top ten with a win but are still eight points back of the top four (and Champions League qualification). This weekend they will take on league leading Inter Milan whose last match was a penalty shootout loss to Bologna in the Italian Supercup.
