After months of Polaris Squads events, the entertaining team grappling tournament was finally concluded at Polaris 34. The deep Team Europe line up absolutely dominated Team Asia & Oceania in the final, with Mateusz Szczecinski leading the charge and putting on an incredible run.
Szczecinski was returning from a serious bicep injury and the Polish Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) star just picked up where he left off. The Polaris welterweight champion had a total of eight wins and four submissions in the evening,
including a run that saw him single-handedly beat five straight members from Team Asia & Oceania.
Also standing out in the Polaris Squads final were Jozef Chen and Eoghan O’Flanagan, who each notched three straight wins for Team Europe, as they handily won the tournament final 35-12.
Apart from the team tournament, the card also featured two of the top pound-for-pound female grapplers today.
Teen BJJ prodigy Helena Crevar added to her growing belt collection, with the WNO and CJI champion getting revenge at Sula-Mae Loewenthal and also becoming a two-division Polaris champion in the process. She won via a modified arm triangle.
UFC BJJ exclusive grappler Ffion Davies also competed in what is said to be her last ever Polaris match. The ADCC champion beat a very game Margot Ciccarelli by decision to win the Polaris bantamweight title.
The event was broadcast at UFC Fight Pass, and replays are currently available on the streaming platform.
