Newcastle United have received an encouraging update on injured midfielder Bruno Guimaraes ahead of the home stretch of the season.
Bruno has been sidelined since Feb. 10 with a hamstring injury, and reports in Brazil last month suggested he would not return until late April.
That seems to be a bit on the worst-case side of the spectrum, according to The Daily Mail’s Craig Hope, who reported after the Champions League draw against Barcelona that the outlook on Tyneside is more positive.
“Reports from
Brazil last month claimed Bruno Guimaraes would only return from injury towards the end of April – but that forecast is not shared on Tyneside,” Hope wrote. “Indeed, Confidential can reveal that, were Newcastle to make it past Barcelona next week, there is every chance the captain could feature in a quarter-final first leg on April 7/8. If not, the target will be the trip to Crystal Palace scheduled for April 11.”
With that, Bruno should still be expected to miss quite a few important games, including the clash at Chelsea on Saturday, the last-16 second leg at Barcelona, and the derby against Sunderland before the international break.
