Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was ruled out for Sunday’s game due a blood clot they discovered in London. Unfortunately, the blood clot moved and Hurts could be looking at an extended absence. The team will move forward with Tanner McKee as the starting QB, and have rookie Cole Payton as the backup, but added more depth on Friday by signing Joe Milton off the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad.
Milton has two seasons under his belt in Dallas, and played in five games during that time. He completed 37-of 53 pass attempts for 424 yards and two touchdowns, but he also threw two interceptions.
It’s interesting that the Eagles didn’t bring back Andy Dalton, who they released just a week ago, but there were some internet rumors that other teams were interested in the veteran QB and maybe he didn’t want to return to Philly.
Either way, the Eagles signing Milton means they don’t expect Jalen Hurts to be back soon, and will need at least an emergency QB3, if not someone to compete for the backup job.
