Joan Laporta has been talking once again about an offer that Barcelona received for Lamine Yamal from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Barca chief has previously revealed PSG tried with an audacious bid to land the teenager in 2024 and now claims some people were surprised he turned it down.
“When PSG offered us €250 million for Lamine Yamal, and we rejected it, he was 17 years old; some people thought we were crazy,“ he said, per Jijantes.
One of Laporta’s advisers, Jan Soler, has also been talking about the
offer today with Cadena Ser, saying : “We had a €250 million offer for Lamine. It was discussed between the agents. It came when Lamine was about to renew his contract; we don’t have to hide that.”
Yamal had already made his debut for the club at that point and had long been tipped to become a future star.
He signed a contract with the club in 2023 with a buyout clause set at one billion euros and renewed his deal last year until 2031.
There have been whispers since that PSG could try again for Yamal, but he has said he wants to spend his entire career at Barca.
“Yes, hopefully yes [I can retire at Barcelona],” he said.
“In the end, I think I’m at the best club in the world, I enjoy every day very much, every training session. I’m in the best city in the world and hopefully I can stay here my whole life.”
